NEW PROJECT- site redesign

Site Redesign is our final at school and we chose a local Italian restaurant in down town St Pete called Moscatos Bella Cucina. the curent site was made by the owners wife by placing images and text into a template http://www.moscatosbellacucina.com/

The client wants to show off three things:
1. his menu
2. their huge catering menu
3. and a section/page dedicated to their reviews and experience

there looking to attract local and keep the Italian rustic theme with their grape on a vine logo. The client also has stated that he has a cd full of images of his food and kitchen so hopefully we can use these to redesign the look and feel of the current site ; )

check them out on 230 4th st n st pete 33701

oh ya and my awesome team members are josh and angelica

  1. I like this. I thought that remaking a restaurant website would be cool cause you can try and give them a new branding system.

I know your guy isnt really all for that but you can sure try!

  2. in keeping with the rustic feel they want to carry throughout the design, i would look into things like texture, and maybe watch some movies about italy such as Eat Pray Love and Under the Tuscan Sun and Letters to Juliet, just to get inspired because those are very well shot movies with nice panoramic views of authentic italian vineyards and vistas... which could bring some nice color inspiration when designing the website because that grey background is not appetizing.

  3. I agree with MIke in terms of trying to revamp the whole grapes on the vine feel. Right now it just looks like a photo cut out in photoshop and placed there. You guys could upgrade that pretty easily while still keeping the same idea of the old world Italy. Bring the site into 2010!!

You guys lucked out that they have a bank of images that you have access to. I know when I look on a website for a restaurant I want to see pictures and if I don't, my attention is lost and I move on. I think that making the images a key feature of the site would be a nice idea.
